Clive Jacobson
Teaching Artist
Clive Jacobson has over thirty years of international advertising and design experience, with a focus on strategic, brand-building creative for institutional and retail accounts. Clive is a graduate of the Johannesburg College of Art, South Africa. As an adjunct professor at NYU for over 12 years, Clive taught graphic design courses in Design Principles, Conceptualization, Typography, The Creative Process, and Visual Semiotics. In 2019, he taught a Design Intensive for Oxbridge Academy - Barnard School of Columbia University.
Clive’s international awards include: The South African Society of Marketers for Branding, The American Institute of Graphic Arts, American Corporate Identity, The Art Directors Club of New York, Communication Arts, NFL Super Bowls XVII and XXIX logo designs, Logolounge, Graphis Annual, and The Society of Publication Designers of America. In his free time, Clive paints portraits and landscapes in oil paints. In 2012, his first co-illustrated book, Jacobsonjoy, was sold out at MoMA. In 2020, his art was selected for the MvVO AdArt show held in the World Trade Center. His latest book on semiotic duality, On the One Hand… was released in late 2021.
