About the Program
As many famous directors like to point out, there is no better way to learn the craft of filmmaking than by making a film with whatever resources you have available. Most of the Youth Apprentices in this program had little of no prior experience in filmmaking. Since this was a remote class, YA’s had to use their own equipment, so a lot of the footage was recorded on cell phones. What they did have was great mentoring from Creative Art Works Teaching Artists, and a strong sense of community and cooperation. Our young filmmakers produced, directed, filmed, edited and scored every aspect of their films. They even produced original infographics, movie posters and stock footage. You can see examples of their process work HERE. The results are three short documentaries with compelling messages. We hope you enjoy them.
